Bulls were In limbo for a minute with their roster so seeing them get a budding superstar player in KAT to pair with Booker is nice to see.

Love the trade for the bulls and mavs
Bulls get to pair up 2 young budding superstars in KAT and booker and both are under contract for a long time .Having KAT and DBook reduces the value of their pick.
Mavs shed the horrendous contract of KCP while giving up just a 2nd while saving about 13 mil in the 3rd year

This trade is mostly about securing George alongside Curry, but it also gives up depth and assets to get us more depth.
We dont believe we need a dominate Big man to win in D720 , so we decided not to pay Kat the Max and use that to keep George without giving up more bench depth to do it.
We like the haul of Randle, Fultz , Crowder , 1st, couple 2nds because it 1. Brings us back a starter , 2. Gives us defensive depth at G/F position , 3. We get to take a chance on a former #1 pick, who if doesnt work out we turned into more expiring money for next year. 4. The 1st and 2nds are going to dangle as bait to get more PF/C help.5 Allows us to resign players like WCS and Satoransky if so choose too instead of having to let them walk. 6. We save over 20mil in cap and could further save more. 7. Plus we always said we believe in depth over having stars....

Luxury tax make you do some crazy things. More like the change in rule...... At first i was going to just be over the luxury tax and pay the penalty as who cares im winning... , but now we can't even go over the hard cap so had to switch my approach if i want to keep Curry and George for the next 3-4yrs.

Prior to establishing that definitively, the 10% luxury tax penalty was a big deal but there was plenty of wiggle room if you thought you were title bound. Now, any teams that are flirting with the luxury tax almost certainly will be forced to make some moves that do nothing but send out good players or assets for cap relief. But that doesn't make this trade a good one for GSW. Fultz is almost certainly done for this season, and the Magic have a horrendous track record for developing their young talent so he's pretty much a lock to bust now. Randle is nowhere near worth being the primary return in a trade for KAT, no matter the cap implications. That first is going to be hot garbage when Book/KAT are teamed up without losing much value to get them. And Jae is fine but he's fallen off a cliff so bad from 16-17 that his 6.5/7M is starting to look kind of expensive... I'm quite certain not just that Penny could have gotten more, but also that Paul could have easily been persuaded to GIVE more.
