The Denver Nuggets trade: Lebron James $38,328,211 - $41,002,273 - $43,676,334 - $46,350,395 Pick 47 in the 2019 D720 Draft (pending completion of LAC-DEN trade) The Miami Heat trade: DeAndre Ayton $7,069,300 - $7,405,900 - $9,346,246 - $12,196,851 John Henson $15,000,000 - $15,000,000 Bryn Forbes $7,000,000 Marquese Chriss $3,398,530 - $4,581,218 Frank Ntilikina $3,357,000 - $4,454,739 - $6,098,538 Justin Jackson (DAL) $3,029,800 - $4,329,584 - $5,987,815 2020 Miami 1st top 3 protected (2021 unprotected if not 2020 pick not conveyed) Denver Nuggets outgoing salary: $38,328,311 Miami Heat outgoing salary: $38,854,630 I accept. I'm looking to SLIGHTLY retool my roster while staying competitive, making Kevin Durant my official go to guy but putting a good mix of veterans and young talent around him (he'll be taking all the shots he wants to if he stays) Lebron is aging, and even though he's still a top 5 player in the NBA I really like the upside of Ayton especially when I need a big, the other assets are meh but could pan out. Miami wants to contend now and Lebron as their leader is a match made in heaven (and no, I'm not trading him because he tried taking my job). boogie verdict please.

To be fair, I think the trade itself is balanced.
What matters though is the franchise implications, of losing two top 5 players in just a short amount of time.
(You say you're making Kevin Durant the official go to guy, what's stopping him from declining his PO and going to a more competitive, non-rebuilding team on a max contract?)

I don't see how my team isn't still competitive by the time KD returns from his injury, but if he does potentially leave do I want to be stuck with Lebron anyways?

I’m gonna accept, with Kds Achilles injury and lebrons age idk if Denver will ever win it all. Might as well get a draft pick and a really good prospect in Ayton

In terms of valuable assets, Denver is getting... Ayton and a 21 1st. Sure, the other stuff in this trade exists too--but all those guys are margin pieces. Why isn't DEN pushing to get Culver, too? Why aren't they getting rid of Dieng in this deal?
Too many things about this deal just scream that DEN hasn't done due dilligence. If you think that KD isn't 100% leaving after this, you're fooling yourself. Also, Miami doesn't even make sense as a trade partner--they have Ayton, but what else? And of course Miami isn't going to offer what bron is worth because they wpuld have nearly zero assets left, and be stuck with Lebron on an island.
Off the top of my head:
See if Middleton or Oladipo + one of ATL's young core is available
Check with OKC--kick the tires on Love + Simmons, Brown, MPJ, Turner
See if Toronto will give up multiple pieces of their core + dead money
Try to steal Bagley from UTA See if PHX is willing to do Nurk, MKG, Murray, + another young piece
Try to sell PHI on a core of Harden/Lillard/LeBron and get a Fox + Howard + other assets package
See if you can get dead money + Ja Morant + Winslow/RHJ
See if Portland wants a DeRozan/LeBron swap to double down on their title aspirations...
... Someone is going to want Lebron, and they're gonna offer more than this. Even if you are dead set on Ayton and he's your guy (which is fine I guess) either get more or send Frank/Jackson/whoever somewhere else in a three team deal and get back another more certain asset.
Shocking I know, but I'm gonna reject.

Shocking I know, but I'm gonna reject. I doubt any of those teams want to give up that exorbitant amount of assets for Bron's contract, it's like the situation in OKC with Westbrook. He was a MVP only a few years ago but due to his supermax, he's not going to be traded for MVP value.

It’s like if you trade Bron, KD has no incentive to stay, even through his injury, somebody is gonna pay him max dollars, but at the same time, that contract is just nasty... Someone pointed it out already, but it’s another Russ situation, at the same time, Bron is still a top 5 player, and Ayton + a draft pick that likely won’t be a lottery pick isn’t enough.

Great trade for Denver value wise. No way 35 year old Bron is worth Ayton on his rookie deal. And I don't even like Ayton that much

I think the best case scenario here is for this to get rejected, sell KD on signing a 2+1 Max with a NTC to run it back one last time with LeBron in 2020-2021 when he’s healthy, then trade both of them at midseason that year if things don’t seem to be panning out (the NTC would be so KD can make sure he only goes somewhere he wants to go, since as of this trade being made public the PAs won’t be able to pretend we don’t know Doc has intentions to trade LeBron and that would basically eliminate the idea of KD re-signing under any other scenario).
Either way, I think this trade is... not ideal, but certainly not the absolute worst value I’ve ever seen Doc accept for a superstar. I can’t say I’m surprised he went through with a LeBron trade, I’m just astounded he was short-sighted enough to not realize this would 100% impact re-signing KD... I’ll still reject because accepting this is functionally the equivalent of accepting LeBron+KD for Ayton and a 1st and maybe the situation can be salvaged if this doesn’t go through? Meh... oh well.

I'll Reject, I think this is unrealistic for what LeBron is worth. Maybe he won't be worth the $$ in the later years of the contract, but no one really knows that. LeBron may still be killing it then.
