Smart fills a need as a backup PG--and fits our timeline of guys in their early prime. I love Thybulle and Svi as prospects, but it's hard not to prefer the proven talent when I have a couple stars on my team that I need to be able to convince to stay.
Smart is a great addition to our core, and I'm getting him at a low price imo. Compared to the Rozier, LeVert, Brown deals signed this off-season, Smart's contract is very palatable.
Hood is also a quality rotation guy who will put in good minutes on our squad. Sad to see Thybulle and Svi go, but feel good about the deal overall.
Beal, SGA, Smart, Trier as backcourt
Tobi, Grant, Hood, Temple as wings
Lauri, Bamba, Clarke as bigs
With some smart sliding up and down, this team looks like a playoff team to me.

I like this for Raptors way more than clippers... Well firstly i take a shot on some young pieces. Secondly for some reason the market for Smart wasnt really there so it may seem like i traded him for less than his value but he didnt have a great market. Thirdly those 1 year dead money can fetch me some 1sts from teams looking to clear cap for next season |
