OKC gives -
(68) Tyson Chandler: $14,596,888
Total Salary: $14,596,888 Projected Salary after trade: $40,720,000
TOR gives -
(66) Marcin Gortat: $10,434,782, $11.217,391, $12,000,000, $12,782,609, $13,565,218
Total Salary - $10,434,782 Projected Salary after trade: $57,781,438
I accept this trade as it gives me a center with comparable, albeit less, talent at a lower price for this year. On top of this, my first 6 draft picks are all on short term contracts and trading for players with long contracts gives me more future stability. Toronto gets an upgrade at center with one of the better defensive big men in the game, as well as an expiring contract that will allow them some more room under the cap to pursue free agents in the offseason.

I accept this trade because seeing as I have Thompson and Bosh, I have enough money tied up long term. Trading Gortat will open up space for us to sign free agents this off-season, and Chandler is a great addition to a team that's trying to contend right now.

hey brian scalabrine i think you will still have minimal cap space even after trading gortat? you will have 57 m total salary for next season then you still have to draft 4 more players or are you planning to draft 4 expiring players? but even though it is expiring you will only have 5M cap space ? how can you sign a starting center for next season?

I need to make some more moves for expiring contracts in exchange for Exum, Young, and Galanari. The plan is to draft more expirings or small contracts. (Hit me up, people) Admittedly, it would have been better to draft that way, this is a little bit of a gear change from what I'd originally planned. But in any case, I can't have Gortat's contract if I want to add another major piece. I'm trying to clear cap room and getting rid of Gortat is the first step, not the last one.

I see so maybe gallinari will be the next one to be shipped out hehehe.
I accept this is a pretty fair trade. As scalabrine said he shifted gears in the middle of the draft and he will get what he want in a 1 year rental of an upgraded center and the raptors also have what it takes to contend this season. OKC will get a secured long term deal for a still improving center and will now have a very balanced team as i see.

Reasoning got cut off. I think its fair for both teams, Ty is better but expiring but hell help them win. Gortat is talented, his deal is long and could impact the free agent ability for his team, but hell produce over the time. It makes sense.

I accept.. It gives the Toronto to have a player with bird rights.. and for the OKC to have a cap space to avoid being over the cap next year..

I accept. It doesn't matter though.
I think Scal wins this trade, only because I think Gortat is shit. But that is my opinion of him. OKC thinks differently and I can see why he thinks differently.
Please take note of how I have an opinion about a player, but I understand that it is my opinion. And it may not be the right opinion. I am smart enough to consider how OKC feels about this deal. He feels he is getting an above average starting center on a long term deal that is relatively cheap considering how much cap he has tied up.
I think OKC will regret this decision as Gortat is 31 and he isn't really going to be worth 13.5 million when he is 35, but he acknowledges the risk involved in the deal and feels comfortable about it. It won't kill him now, but I think down the road, he will regret this. But it suits his purposes and his plan in the near future, which is fine by me.
