Free Agency Regulations
To bid on a free agent rated below 58 create a thread with the player's name as the subject, and in the body post your bid in years and total dollars.
An offer must stand as the highest bid for 24 hours before it is accepted. An offer is the high bid if it contains the highest TOTAL dollar amount over the life of the contract.
For a Free Agent rated over 58 send a Personal Message to that player's agent. Make sure to include:
__Player Name
__Full Contract Offered
__Your team's projected total salaries if you're successful in signing the player.
__Reasons why the player should sign with your team.
__Promises
Regulations
Contracts that GMs create in free agency are limited to being between 1 and 4 years in length.
You may not sign a free agent if the signing takes your team over the salary cap. The only exception to this is if it is to the league minimum contract.
The minimum increase to an offer for a free agent is $100,000.
The maximum amount that a contract can increase or decrease each year is by 7.5% of the previous year in the contract or the league minimum salary.
If your team has the maximum of 15 players on it's roster you may not bid for free agents without specifying the player to be released in the same post.
No more than two Free Agents can be signed in 1 week (real-time) by each team.
A GM may have no more than two top "active bids" at any time. Creating a 3rd top "active bid" will not be allowed.
Bids cannot be rescinded.
Contracts offered to free agents rated 58 or below must not contain Team or Player Options.
Minimum contracts cannot be longer than 2 years.
A free agent signed in season cannot be cut for 3 months (with the exception of a free agent signed due to injury to meet the 10 player minimum); this is to prevent people from repeatedly signing and cutting players to trade the dead money.
The Josh Barber Rule: You may not release a player for the purpose of re-signing them outside of the Off Season.
