Current Rating: 54 CBA MVP. Need I say more? Yes, I do. Playing significant minutes for a playoff team, he sports a PER of 22.5, ranked 14th in the league out of players with >6MP. .128 WS/48, good for 97th in the league, >300MP. Both are significant career highs, as are his numbers in TS%, REB%, TOV%, and USG%. He's becoming more efficient while increasing his usage! He managed to get rated a 54 based just on his athleticism and draft pedigree, and now it seems that he may have started to figure out how to actually play basketball.

I think he still belongs in the mid to lower 50s. He has played more like a lower 60s player this season but we are talking 20 games vs seven years of below average ball. I think he is much more likely to regress toward the mean than to keep this up over a full season.

I think even if we look at his career averages, he still deserves an increase. By career averages, he's pretty much precisely a league average player.
| PER | TRB% | AST% | STL% | BLK% | TOV% | Michael Beasley | 15.1 | 11.5 | 9.7 | 1.3 | 1.7 | 12.0 | League Average | 15 | 8.9 | 9.8 | 1.5 | 1.1 | 12.8 |
His TS% is low (.509) compared to league average (.533), but his career usage (26.9%) is crazy high (average 18.1%). Give him the appropriate number of possessions and that TS% who look average. He's started in 200 of his 453 career games (44%), none of those in this his career year. He couldn't land on a roster until late this season, but a lot of that has to do with off-the-court issues and perceptions, not his actual on-the-court production.

-2.19 rpm this year with 1.0 win shares. 2.5 win shares over the last 3 years. Never expect everyone to agree in here and honestly that is the best thing about stock watch. Multiple outlooks on players from different perspectives.

Obviously win shares are going to be low; the guy spent most of the year in China. Of course, that's not meaningless, but as I mentioned I think his lack of NBA contributions in the past is due not to lack of skill, but due, in part, to off-the-court issues.
I will admit that it may also be due, in part, to basketball IQ issues. As you point out, plus-minus stats are not in his favor.
