Boston Trades: SG 66 Bradley Beal $5,694,673 $7,471,411 SF 65 DeMarre Carroll $2,148,240 $2,363,064 $2,577,888 $2,792,712 $3,007,536 SG 59 Leandro Barbosa $700,000 $8,542,913
for
Chicago Trades: C 69 Tim Duncan $10,000,000 $11,000,000 $12,000,000 $11,000,000 $10,000,000 $10,000,000
I accept this trade. I think adding a veteran like Duncan can help improve my team for next season. We currently have too many guards and our lineup doesn't work. I think switching Duncan for Beal could improve the chemistry and defensive identity of our team. Also, I am going to have to try and resign Beal. I am not sure if that can be done with the current salary on my team. DeMarre Carroll does a have a no trade clause, he may decide he does not want to go to Chicago.

John said it passed on chat? Barbosa can't be traded though because he is an expiring contract.

cbafaq:
It's a little vague. It's not clear whether RFAs contracts have ended or not, as you still own their qualifying offer and consequent matching rights. My guess is you cannot trade RFAs, since they act kind of like Team Options, which seem to be untradeable. And it kind of makes sense you shouldn't be able to trade a QO, because it could be used just for matching purposes if the receiving team is going to rescind it.
But that just a guess. Maybe I'll try to catch Larry Coon next time he does a chat session to ask him.

How would this work out if Duncan retires IRL this offseason? Is he still on the simulation until end of next season?

My understanding is that the moment they retire, they come off the books.

Ok, my final ruling on this trade and further trades like it is as follows: Since in D720 contracts roll over immediately after the draft, at that point you cannot trade Bradley Beal. Until then, he is not an expiring contract. In this league we automatically offer all RFA's the QO, so under no circumstances would he be an expiring player. However, this trade is illegal because Barbosa is an expiring player. Red Auerbach You can still do this trade, what you need to do is sign a player to a two year minimum contract, and then include that guy instead of Barbosa.

Red Auerbach actually this trade would be illegal anyway since Duncan & Carroll have an option next year so that counts as an expiring contract. However beal can be traded until the end of the draft.
