I accept.
Paul Pierce is not going to be part of the future of this team, despite being a reasonable rotation player. He's buried beneath Covington and KD/KD's replacement at SF. At PF he's behind Mirotic at least. Other minutes at the forward spot I'd prefer to go to guys on the upside of their career, not the down, a la Holmes. Additionally, I get $5MM more in space to work with this offseason. I'll take a minimal asset in return for that.
You're a hall of famer Paul, and I hope you finish out your career on a squad that can do you right.

To me Pierce is going to be worth more then a 2nd round pick in 2018 next season, plus I don't want to miss the chance to have a star on my team :) I accept.

Doc Reject.
1 more "Doc Reject" and you are on probation.
You don't trade Jimmy butler for picks and then trade picks for Paul Pierce. You're tanking now.

Pierce had a pretty rough year shooting 36% & I don't see him coming back from it at 39 next season. NY needs to hand out the pick if it wants to unload the liability.

More importantly, you don't ever trade something of future value for a player that will probably retire soon unless your championship window is literally right now... Especially if that player has a $5M contract, which is large enough to give you the leverage to demand something extra on top of Paul instead of giving up something for him.
Reject for sure.

Oh well. It was worth a try. Back to hoping he retires.
