New Orleans PelicansPG 68 Jrue Holiday $11,286,518 G 64 Avery Bradley $8,269,663 $8,808,989 Option to Swap 2020 1sts for Memphis GrizzliesPF 64 Kristaps Porzingas $2,474,900 $2,581,500 $3,283,668 4,426,384GF 62 Nick Young $5,443,918 $5,668,667
Alright, trade breakdown. Kristaps is coming off Memphis Bench, and the jury is still out on whether he will be great. Memphis has been starting Jose Calderon & Nick Young, and while that's dandy and got them a 1st round upset, it certainly won't be effective next year (nick young 62?). After this trade Memphis' lineup is Jrue-Bradley-Melo-Alrdidge-Big Al The reason I take Nick Young is to make sure that Memphis has enough room to resign Big Al. Personally, I'm doing this because this is the type of shit Billy does. I couldn't stop tanking if I wanted to.

Hopefully this will solidify this deal.
I want to clarify my comments from the previous thread.
I believe kristap's improvement will be a net negative with what the guards bring to my team. Please let me know if any more explanation is desired.
Accept.
Edited for even more clarity.

If Pelicans are supposed to be good in 2018 how good they are supposed to be in 2020 though.

I couldn't stop tanking if I wanted to. This is a big reason why I don't like this trade. whats your purpose? this trade doesn't make sense with kawhi and a team looks like it can compete next season. are you doing this trade bc you want to tank? or bc you know this is just so unbalanced in your favor in value? kristaps is the second most valuable rookie out of last years draft and youre telling me jrue and Avery Bradley is equal in value to a 20yo big man with a jump shot? I might be one of the few in this but sorry the pick swap doesn't add enough for me to accept this.

Guess you just sell Jrue and Bradley short. a 20 yo rookie with a jump shot that had a few good months is far from a sure thing. You really think there's a huge chance kristaps ends up being more valuable than both of those players combined? And not only better than them eventually, but enough so that it overshadows their immense value to his team over the next 2-3 years before Kristaps would enter his prime? Alright.

Yeah, pick swap doesn't mean anything if Pelicans are aiming to be good soon, and if this move is meant to drop talent to "tank" it falls well short of the mark since Billy will still have plenty of other players/assets to drop before he'd be tank worthy. I still reject. I just don't think as highly of Bradley as some others apparently, but I think Porzingis might legitimately be worth more than this based on his potential and it doesn't make sense to trade a 20-year old based on current value instead of potential.

I accept. Healthy Jrue is really good and while I think Bradley's defensive ability is overstated, I do think he's a valuable 3&D guy. While it's definitely trading potential for present value, I'm ok with GM going for it. And I'm not sure how much more he could reasonably get for Porzingis. Nobody is going to give up a perennial All-Star for him and Jrue probably falls within that next tier of players.
