Seattle accepts this trade. We hate to see Tony Allen go as he is still one of the best defenders in the league and will be a starter for Memphis IRL in the upcoming year. In this trade, Pistons will acquire some cap to be able to go for someone this FA as well as strengthening that rotation that made the finals last year. With Kyle Korver as only SGs on his team, Tony is likely to get the playing time and attention he rightfully deserves in Motor City. While they are the same rating, we understand that Plumlee is a younger player and thus will accept PJ Tucker as a salary cap dump while the stretch provision will be used on Channing Frye's $8M contract. I accept I need an upgrade in the shooting guard position, plus it gives me more cap space for free agency coming up.

I don't really get this one. Plumlee is already better than Allen, younger, & under team control much longer. The $2.6 million dollar difference in contracts doesn't make up much ground.

Reject Allen is still elite at defense, and Plumlee will need to be paid next year, which Detroit does not want to do. That 2.6M in difference is going to like much more than that. He gains a starter at a position of need and gets to keep a 2nd rnd pick where he would use to get rid of Tucker's contract elsewhere.

Allen is 34 though and a free agent next year so he will be paid by whoever wants him. I think Allen actually has a better year this year but after that how far can he go at that age?

Yeah I don't get this one either. I believe Tony Allen is under SW right now and is expected to see a decrease. The difference between Tucker and Allen isn't Plumlee.

Reject lol he has gone through the stocked watche and only changed by one point. Tony Allen 2015/16 Stats: 8.4 pts, 1.1 ast, 4.6 rbs, 1.7 stls, .458 fg%, 12.9 PER, 1.9 DWS, 1.4 DBPM, 105 DRtg PJ Tucker 2015/16 Stats: 8.0 pts, 2.2 asts, 6.2 rbs, 1.3 stls, .411 fg%, 10.8 PER, 1.9 DWS, 1.3 DBPM, 109 DRtg Like I said, the difference between Tucker and Allen isn't nearly big enough to warrant Plumlee.

Yeah, Tony Allen is solid, but I see no reason to pursue a trade like this in the offseason when there is no way to know if giving up too much value for a guy could be the move that takes you over the top. Tony Allen could still end up being a complete dud this year because of his age, and the 2.6M that Detroit gets in cap space isn't nearly significant enough as is to warrant accepting on those grounds.
I'm gonna accept though. This doesn't kill either franchise.
