The Rockets send:[PF] Brice Johnson 50 $1,301,900 $1,360,400 $1,419,000 $2,188,098 $3,135,544
The Celtics send:[PF/C] Dirk Nowitzki 68 $8,692,184While our faith in Brice Johnson's long term potential and NBA readiness compelled us to choose him in this year's draft, we believe that Dirk's ability to contribute offensively and on the boards heavily outweighs Brice's output for us this upcoming season. Our organization is going all in for title runs for the next two years, and believe that Dirk's presence on the team may convince another star to follow his footsteps. After being a single game away from reaching the Conference Semi Finals, Dirk's addition would surely propel our team further. The Houston Rockets accept this trade. Red Auerbach

I feel Dirk could have really helped me reach the playoffs this season. However, I have been hearing nothing but good things about Brice Johnson coming out of the summer league. Now I know it is only the summer league, but if he is as NBA ready as they say he is, Doc Rivers will find him playing time. Already a 50, he should be able to put up some good numbers and climb the rankings. Also, this helps to free up almost $7.4 mil off of my salary. I accept this trade.

Dude you keep making trades that are the exact opposite. Trade away your good pieces and your picks at the same time is pants on head. Why?!?!! I never understand.

Yeah, I don't get it either. If you wanted to be competitive, this move doesn't make sense. If you're trying to quickly rebuild, the Chandler trade doesn't make any sense. There are definitely good Free Agents on the market this year, but outside of KD, none of them are worth tearing up your team to get, and KD won't choose a team that just gutted itself to get enough cap room to try to sign him anyway.
Gonna reject.

With Westbrook, Millsap and now Dirk likely on their way out next year, a solid competitive year makes sense. This damages that way too much.
