This trade can't be processed until Dec 15.
I accept. I too need to change up my lineup. I have 3 power forwards. With this trade I'll put Jonas in at center, move Millsap to PF, and bring Al Jeff off the bench with Isaiah Thomas. I'll just have to find me a 3 and D small forward.
I thought about this one for a while because it really affects my cap going into the offseason. However, I think having a young improving center is worth the trade. I hate to see Dirk go, because he is a legend.

Accept for me. I think both teams are taking on a bit of risk here. Indy is taking on Dirk who has struggled to remain healthy this season. I wouldn't be surprised if he misses enough time to go over the threshold this year. But Chandler has been awesome and Dirk is only on a 1 yr deal. Boston is getting the best player in this trade but they are taking on the risk of JV opting out and becoming a FA next season.
Will be interesting to see how the sim takes the new adjustments, hopefully you guys ran a few sims to see!

I have run some sims and K love is comfortable at the center position next to Dirk or Kieff like the K Love in Minny.

Reject. Dirk is a shell of himself right now and JVal is worth more than this.

I hate this for Indiana. Feels like throwing JV away. Dirk might be done. He has looked bad in the few games he has played in. Stuckey is below average everywhere (PER, WS/48, BPM) the last two years. Chandler is okay this year but I believe his & the Stuckey contracts will be regretful sooner rather than later. The only place this makes sense is the ratings but Dirk & Stuckey could take a hit pretty quickly.

Valanciunas is likely to look for the max in the offseason.

Valanciunas is likely to look for the max in the offseason. 1) he really isn't/shouldn't be worth that, 2) he's still head and shoulders more valuable than Dirk if Dirk never returns to form, 3) they're both "expiring" if Val leaves, so I don't see much different between losing Dirk (based on letting him go for poor performance, watching him retire, etc.) or losing Val (based on him seeking a max that Reggie probably won't try to match). In that regard, the deal is two scrub expirings for one scrub on a TRBL deal and another guy having a career year at 29 (aka good right now but it'll look probably like a TRBL deal before the contract expires). I just don't see how IND improves their team or their future prospects in any way by making this trade.

I vote to accept. I think Jonas will opt out, and without his bird rights this is literally just a 1 year rental of Jonas. So the meh return is worth it.
I also think Jonas kind of sucks in the sim, and paired with Klove lacks the frontcourt defense. Which is something we have seen other teams that should be good struggle with...

I vote to reject.
Boston is getting the bad end of the trade. He's not guaranteed Jonas' contract after this season as Jonas has the option to become a UFA for two consecutive years based on how Boston performs. As a player agent, I would want to either keep my player in a good team that has a chance of playing to win or would get my player the most money possible. With that said, the NBA salary cap has risen to 94 million and will rise to 114 million next year which would lead to another off-season where teams have the freedom to offer a lot of offers that (quite frankly) might not equal to the value of the players. Boston can't afford that as he is probably going to try and keep Russell somehow
In Pacers' case, Miller gets himself an injured Dirk who hasn't played most games and neither is the Mavericks forced to play him since they're at the bottom of the league. What this means is that he doesn't play as much in the sims and just like what Steve said, he is a "shell of himself". The one good thing that he got was Wilson Chandler, despite his age compared to the rest of the Denver team, he imo deserves a small increase in his ratings because he is an important part of the Nuggets roster right now. Rodney is a non-factor and Miller is stuck with him for a while...

This is a clear accept for me. The job of the TC is not to GM for everyone. This is not a blatantly unfair trade

This is a clear accept for me. The job of the TC is not to GM for everyone. This is not a blatantly unfair trade The job of the TC is to be a buffer between GMs that ensure that neither side is winning a trade so badly as to potentially derail the franchise of the losing team. The only reason for IND to take this trade is under the assumption that a) Dirk plays on par with Jonas through the end of the year, b) Wilson Chandler and Rodney Stuckey are significant upgrades over their expiring counterparts, c) that neither of Chandler's and Stuckey's contracts end up being horrible contracts that haunt the Pacers years from now, and d) that the difference between attempting to resign Dirk/Jonas being having bird rights for a player that is almost 40 vs no bird rights for a young center with a decently promising career in front of him has any dramatic effect on the extreme imbalance of value between the two in a vacuum. For the reference, there is no 100% guarantee that Jonas even opts out. Just because it looks likely doesn't mean that he will. If Jonas opted in even ONE of those options, this trade is devastatingly bad for Reggie.

That's wrong. Any player option makes the contract after the player option only bad. The player opts in only if the contract is bad. Otherwise he resigns for market value

I vote to accept. It looks to be a fair trade with Indiana sacrificing a little of the future to get some talent worth more in the present. I dont think Jonas for Chandler and Stuckey is even close to franchise ruining for either side, especially since we probably know what we're getting out of Jonas and these other players at this point.

Hmm, Dirk expiring/possibly retiring after this season while JV COULD opt out but he could resign. After this season Boston will have nothing if JV opts out while Indiana will at least have Chandler and Stuckey unless Dirk sticks around personally i think JV will stick around in Boston but he could always opt out again after that while Indiana has Dirk for two seasons max but it's a good trade for them shorterm.Just my opinion and this was a close one but I guess I'll accept.
