NETS BY THE NUMBERS
Brooklyn! Your team looks delicious! 1 is the number of transactions made by the Nets since the D720 fantasy draft aka “The Beginning of Times”. 0, if you measure it since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's appointment in Jul 27, 2015. 1 is also the round of the Fantasy Draft in which Andrew Wiggins was selected with the 19th pick just after Kawhi Leonard and before Jimmy Butler. 2 is the round of the Fantasy Draft in which Joel Embiid was selected and the number of years they waited for him to play. 3 is the pick of the 2015 Rookie Draft used by Nets to select D'Angelo Russell. 5 is the pick of the last Rookie Draft used to select Dragan Bender. 6 is the round of the Fantasy Draft in which Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was selected.
A common debate when it comes to the construction of a basketball team is whether a team should build via draft, free agency or by trading if you got the touch. Success typically comes from the perfect balance of all 3 but once in a while, there are exceptional cases in which a contender is built from scratch with nothing but a great vision for untapped potential.
Brooklyn Nets shall not be considered a contender; At least, not yet but there is certainly a lot to be optimistic about. Fact is that with 22 games played, Nets currently holds the league top position with a 18-4 record and only 4 wins shy from last season. Only time will tell if Nets can keep it up this season but if health is with them, future looks bright for Embiid and company.
