I was looking up the rules for minimum bid increase, where i found out my original bid is probably invalid due to this rule:
A free agent signed in season cannot be cut for 3 months (with the exception of a free agent signed due to injury to meet the 10 player minimum); this is to prevent people from repeatedly signing and cutting players to trade the dead money.
I'm not sure if you can retract your bid since the original bid was invalid, but I'm out of this one.

pretty sure, you can retract your offer during regular season without consequences.
