I don't like this for Boston. 31 year old whose career could be nearly over due to injury, 35 year old dude whose career is definitely winding down, and a bottom 5 pick, all for a 26, 27, and 25 year old (all with more room to grow) that are all strong offensive threats on their own and represent better defensive presence as well. This could come back to bite you hard giving away youth and some very valuable front court players near or in their prime for arguably less valuable assets across the board, taking on extra money to do so, and all of this on a team very lacking in depth that was literally built to tank and probably won't contend regardless.
But if Boston wants to try to win and thinks this will do it, the pick is compensation enough for losing youth and longevity and Carmelo plus David West could be very potent additions to their front court. I feel like I'm almost always the negative voice in the trade thread anyway. Haha. I'll accept.

3 accepts needed. 3/5 only counts when two TC members are involved.

i hope people will not underestimate melo.. he is still an elite player and his stats went down because he was all in for the triangle, he followed the plan of ny and learned the system..that injury is just exaggerated he will come back and still play very good..

I don't understand why boston would do this. blake alone is worth melo and david west.

Yep, remember how good Melo looked the week before the all star game? They shut him down to tank, not because he was super injured. I accept.

If in fact my team was built to tank, I still have my 1st rounders. I have added a 1st rounder, an All-Star and an important role player.
I would say at this point my team could still go into tanking mode or fight for the playoffs. I myself, can not build a tanking team.

I would say at this point my team could still go into tanking mode or fight for the playoffs. I myself, can not build a tanking team. Had quite a few talks with Danny and he was clear the team was meant to tank. Doesn't mean you have to do that, but he didn't give you much to work with. As for Carmelo being elite... Duh. No one has forgotten what an incredible player he is, but that doesn't excuse his age and a recently serious injury bringing down his net value. Ultimately, I just think over the next 15 years Blake could be elite for 10-12 max and Melo is elite for 5-6 max. Not a great swap when the team is built for the future whether or not you intend to tank with.

3 accepts needed. 3/5 only counts when two TC members are involved. only 1 trade committee member involved though, i made the same mistake in the other thread. this still needs 4 accepts.

Yeah, that's what I was saying. I meant "3 more accepts needed" but just didn't write it out that way. Haha.

i dont think boston makes themselves a contender with this deal necessarily but i think they have the potential to if they want to pull a move like LAC or LAL is doing right now. I just dont see why they'd want to go from a team that was built to tank to build a contending team. just given what Steve said earlier, Blake probably has twice as much left in the gas tank in terms of elite years left and Boston giving that up for a 1st round pick...I guess I accept but I dont love the reasoning behind why boston is making this deal

Don't underestimate melo even though he is 31 y/o.. He can dominate on any team.. Blake is an elite PF now but with the help of Jordan and CP3.. West is still good enough so I accept

I am going to reject this.
Blake is a lot better and a lot younger than Melo. And Robin Lopez is really good but goes unnoticed.
Way too lopsided for me.
