Indiana Pacers Trade
(66)Ryan Anderson $8,491,500 $8,500,000 (58)Maurice Harkless $1,887,840 $2,894,059 $4,045,894 2016 1st rd pick 2018 1st rd pick total sal involved: $10,379,340
before trade: $68,341,023
after trade: $67,461,683
to
Houston Rockets
(72)Paul Millsap $9,500,000 total sal involved: $9,500,000
before trade: $31,520,013
after trade: $32,399,353
I accepted this trade to upgrade my froncourt.. I'll be reuniting former teammates Millsap and Jefferson.. I need to upgrade because of the other moves in the league and I want to be sure that the Pacers will not be left behind and will be a contender this year and the years to come.. By including Harkless in the trade I will have enough cap space to resign Millsap in my team..

Seems like it but in these league you cant win a championship without 3 all stars.. I have been thinking about this trade since the start and with Millsap in our team it will give the team a higher chance on winning the championship

Not bad in terms of value although I think Pacers are giving up a little too much, Ryno gives value here but I accept because I think you have a plan on resigning Millsap. Good trade.

This trade is incredibly awful for the Pacers if Millsap doesn't resign (think the level of awful like if Love had left Cleveland this offseason), and the 9-2 record suggests no change is needed to contend so it's quite overkill to say that this team can't win the way they are and it's worth moving 4 valuable assets for 1.
If this was Aldridge or something, this would be worth it, but a couple players and a couple 1st rounders should be enough to chase after virtually anyone in the league and to me it feels like too much for Millsap. The last few trades I've been kind of beat down by shitty deals and just letting trades go through even if I didn't like them, but I'm gonna man up and decline this one. Pacers can do better.

I have thought of this first before accepting this trade.. at first I was hesitant because I was giving too much for Millsap but I have rethink it and I have convince myself that I have space for Millsap to sign with my team and and still have cap space to sign another quality player.. Even if Millsap will not resign I still have enough cap space to sign a better player than Millsap because I traded away Anderson who have a salary of $8,500,000 next year plus I have players with team option next year so I have the felxibility to sign him and sign other players.. I know I may sound as if my teams record is awful but I'm just making sure that my team will contend this year..

Even if you have the space, there's no guarantees in free agency, especially if you're going after a player that a lot of teams will be going after. It's too dangerous to rely on, the draft is more reliable in my opinion.

Indiana is already in the lead for one of the best records in the league and has a good core of guys coming back next year. If he has the cap, I dont see why Millsap wouldn't sign with Indiana

I do agree that draft is more reliable but with the standing my draft pick may end up being on the late 1st rd so I'll take my chances at the FA

Indiana isn't exactly a huge market, so even a with a good contending team there's no guarantees. The chances aren't bad, but I still don't like the trade at that. He could be going after someone worth a lot more with what he's willing to give up, and I think he'd have success in that endeavor, so that's not enough to change my mind.

I accept. I'm not planning to contend this year. I believe that Millsap will go to the right team. Having Ryan Anderson can fill the position of Millsap.

Think this trade is acceptable.
Gave up way way too much for Millsap. He isn't worth it. But that is my personal opinion not commonly shared amongst basketball people.
Because Millsap is regarded highly around the league, I accept. If this was just based on my personal opinion, you're getting hosed. But Millsap should be ok the next years in Atlanta.

hmm at first i was shocked because i thought indiana gave up too much for millsap but when the trade committee pointed out that indiana have cap space and has a high chance to be a championship caliber team, i changed my mind and i will now accept this.. i still think you can only trade one 1st round pick so it can be more fair

Reggie seems to have a knack for trading away his picks for players, and thats one way to go about building a team. Some people don't know shit about college basketball, and think they have a better chance at getting good players through free agency than through the draft, and that is fine. The value is a lot, though.
I think people are selling Ryan Anderson very very short. He has been injured the last couple years but when he is on he is one of the best shooters in the league, and his open looks are going to skyrocket in Alvin Gentry's system...
It pains me for Indiana, but I believe a GM should be allowed to take a shot at the championship, and Indiana IS the type of team that could be "1 player away", so I'll accept.
Trade passed. Please update your salary and depth charts.
