billy how is this signing going to be handled?... if playoff sims start and the bidding still isn't closed yet, will either of us be able to use Vince on our playoff roster?

I don't see why not as long as the thread was posted before the regular season ended. I'm not at home but this could be invalid anyway because of that.

I couldn't find any rules in free agency that renders this signing illegal, so I'm going to assume vince carter has been signed. anyone feel free to let me know if you think this would be invalid

Right, billy?

Right, billy ? The first playoff games started on 5/22 at 8:30 pm ( dynasty720.proboards.com/thread/3793/ecqf-game-1), Vince Carter's bidding started on May 20. My winning bid was posted on 5/21 at 12pm, which means he was officially signed 24 hours later on 5/22 at 12pm. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be eligible to be on my playoff roster, especially since he was signed before playoffs started. Edit: All times used are EST

Dude, just read Billy's comment just a few posts about this. Vince wasn't eligible to be on a roster if the initial thread wasn't started before the regular season ended. I would have bid more on him if John's post hadn't come at 10:14AM (CST), about two hours after Billy posted the final day of the regular season at 7:55AM.

This entire thread was invalid because the regular season was over when John made his bid, and Vince can't be signed anymore.

I don't know man.. in our real life NBA there's a time between the last day of the regular season and the start of the 1st playoff game where you can set your playoff roster. The last day of the regular season isn't by any means the last day to set the playoff roster in stone (Sources: www.nba.com/key-dates , www.insidehoops.com/calendar.shtml , www.hoopsrumors.com/2016/11/key-in-season-nba-dates-for-201617.html ) of course d720 isn't the real nba. i don't remember Billy saying anything about the last day to sign a player for your playoff roster, but if he did i would gladly stand down. will definitely respect whatever the call is

Also if you were referring to Billy's post in this thread, it is by no means an assertion of any rule we have in d720 lol. billy Steve Jobs

How do they do it in the real NBA? Can players signed after the regular season be on playoff rosters? I'm actually inclined to think the cutoff in the real NBA is during the regular season, but I don't know shit about the new CBA.

How do they do it in the real NBA? Can players signed after the regular season be on playoff rosters? I'm actually inclined to think the cutoff in the real NBA is during the regular season, but I don't know shit about the new CBA. As far as I know, this is the case. There is a cutoff during the regular season for free agents to be signed that can be on your playoff roster. The only exceptions exist to help a playoff team alleviate injury troubles, i.e. some players go down with injuries in a playoff series and the team needs to sign some new free agents to be on their roster or they won't have enough to field a legal team. And Yao is newer so it's understandable, but this league has always been an "any rule that isn't specifically written is at the discretion of the commissioner" set up. If your initial instinct was that the last day of the regular season being posted is the cutoff for playoff-eligible signings, I think that's perfectly reasonable.
