SEATTLE SUPERONICS SEND: GF 61 Tim Hardaway $1,000,000 $1,000,000 $1,000,000 G 54 Sergio Rodriguez $990,000 $990,000 G 56 Shelvin Mack $990,000 $990,000 FC 57 Joakim Noah $990,000 $990,000 G 58 Leandro Barbosa $990,000 $990,0002019 ORL 1st 2020 HOU 2nd Total: $4,960,000 x1.25 = $6,200,000, works under the 125% rule for TORONTO RAPTORSSEND: SG 59 Buddy Hield $2,796,100 $2,916,500 $3,703,955 $4,967,004 PG 58 Malcolm Brogdon $969,190 $1,010,990 $1,824,837 SF 52 Justin Jackson $2,184,400 $2,592,900 $3,029,800 $4,329,584 $5,987,815Total: $5,949,690 The Seattle Supersonics accept this trade. With a season riddled with injuries, it has become only clearer that we will need some depth in order to give ourselves the best chance to make it all the way. THJ has been scoring in bunches for NYK, but we get a two shooters that should fit nicely into our rotation. Sucks to lose that ORL pick, but similar to the trade the Cavs made IRL, I believe this team needed to get younger and get reliable perimeter shooters to add some scoring for our bench. the Raptors accept this trade.
Tough deal here, but here's what it comes down to: we are prioritizing gaining assets that can be used in the draft. The guys we're sending are all guys we like, but we think we're selling them at the right time. Now that MIL is healthy minus Brogdon, he's going to stay a sixth man. Hield is not the same caliber of player as their starting back court, and I think he projects to be a sixth man spit starter guy. Jackson has looked good and gotten time lately, but he really ought to be an eighth man, and I don't think there's remarkable odds that he's starting in SAC Town next year.
Ultimately, these are all guys that I've been think of as package players to use to move up in the draft. What it comes down to is that Hardaway is a more productive player than any of them, and on a great contract. He'll be a really attractive player on the trade market, and I can hold onto him until I find a deal I like for him. Additionally that ORL pick could be in the lottery next year, they'll only have five guys guaranteed this off-season, less than Max cap space, CJ as their best player, and BroLo probably deserves a downgrade. I think it's feasible that the pick and Tim get me to a better draft spot, but also I won't be worse for wear for seeing how they pan out by holding onto them.
I think I might be over-paying a smidge, but I need to consolidate assets, and I'm getting the best player and a pretty valuable first. Happy with this deal.

Also, just to add, I don't really want to pay for Brogdon in RFA. I love the guy and he's a great player, but it doesn't make sense to me to start writing checks for a guy who is a complementary piece before you pay a superstar. This deal helps me hold value while helping my long term flexibility.

I lol'd when I saw John post the trade, but this sways me enough to 'Accept'.

Accept. I could see that ORL pick being lottery next year and while I wouldn't do it as the Raptors its defensible

Meh. Just wanted to post some funny pics. About the trade, don't really have an opinion. Feels weird though. That 2019 ORL 1st should find its way back to Orlando preferably in a 3-ways deal. They are right in the middle of nowhere as it stands. Trading assets for a chance to tank with that pick makes the most sense to them.

Accept, Seattle wins this trade. hopefully this is not TOR's way of self-sabotage.
My boy Lonzo will take us to the playoffs next year, that pick ain't lottery.

" Gregg Popovich sucks and more Sonics news" media group had the opportunity to be on Buddy Hield's presentation today. One reporter was quoted as saying "We’re just standing here waiting for LeBron". Just like in real life!
