As you all know, Executive of the Year is decided by a vote among the GMs of the league. Last year, the voting was open which led to a large plethora of votes for many different managers. This is great, but I also thought it'd be cool to have a "Nomination" process as well. Where, throughout the season, people can nominate GMs for the yearly award by posting here. Reasoning may or may not be included. You cannot nominate yourself. Nominees: 1. Pete Maravich2. Theodore Duncan3. Allan Houston4. John Stockton

I would like to nominate Pete Maravich. Obviously, the season is still young (having yet reached the all-star break), but he deserves a nod no matter where his season heads from here in my opinion. Washington has had a poor history, being famously the only team to get both their 1st and 2nd round picks autodrafted, and suffering from a string of terrible GMing until Pete arrived. I remember questing a lot of his moves, especially in the trade market, but boy was I wrong. Pistol Pete has now almost matched his win total from last season (21), in only 35 games. woah

Thanks Billy. Nice to compete after a season and a half of garbage. Hopefully this isn't a kiss of death.
I am going for the obvious choice. Theodore Duncan. Portland had some talent but he turned them in to a powerhouse in pretty quick fashion. He has pulled the trigger on some deals that took some major cajones. He has also done a good job of walking the line between going for it all while still keeping an eye on the future. He has had some tough breaks but still has a solid core.

The only time I've talked about Capela on here that I can find is when Pete traded the #2 overall pick for him and hood. I said I liked both of them, and figured they had as good of a chance as being a great player as brandon ingram. I criticized capela for not making a shot outside of 3 feet and not starting many games. :P I've always kinda liked Capela afaik.

I remember that. I think Billy said if 2 of the guys become regular starters. It was Capela, Kyle Anderson, Kaminsky, James Young, and a pick (Hernangomez).

In fairness, that may still be a valid question. Capela seems to be there (though he's vastly overrated IRL due to his team having lots of success this year simultaneous to when he finally made some progress as a player), but Anderson, Kaminsky, and Young are all role players and the jury is still out on Hernangomez. Either way, Ingram has shown flashes but nothing consistent enough yet to say that it was definitely a bad trade, especially considering the cheap depth you'll have around if you do manage to pull in a star someday.
