Your math isn't wrong, but he's actually correct in his computation. He should have written "29,008,106x100/125" instead of "29,008,106x1.25", but the number he came up with was the right one and the trade does indeed fit in the 125% rule. actually he is wrong either.typographic error and calculation error. Nope. 29,008,106x100/125=23,206,485, and even if you do it the other direction, 24,812,500x1.25=31,015,625. Since both sides end up over the cap, the team that is taking on the most salary can't take on more than 125% of the salary they're giving away. 125% of 24,812,500 is 31,015,625, and the salary being taken on by Boston is 29,008,106, so it is accurate to say that 29,008,106<31,015,625, therefore the trade works within the 125% rule. His math is correct, and they aren't violating any rules, so I don't know what point you're trying to make. You can take issue with the way he typed his initial equation, but the trade works by the salary cap rules (and the numbers he posted were accurate regardless of the typographical error), so for you to do so would be purely pedantic.

If you're finding 125% of a number (#) you would use the formula # x 1.25 = 125% of #. I didn't read the thingy, your math could have been for something else but I don't know bruuh. I'm just tryna fuck deez bitches, nawimsaynnn..

I'm just tryna fuck deez bitches, nawimsaynnn.. Right, but the problem is the number that the original post tried to multiply by 1.25 wasn't the number that needed to be multiplied by 1.25. The smaller number needs to be multiplied by 1.25 since the team taking more contract isn't supposed to take more than 125% of the outgoing salary. But conversely, multiplying the larger salary by 1/1.25 will tell you the lowest possible salary that lowest possible salary-traded that fits within the 125% rule. Since the smaller salary being traded was more than the inverse-125% rule, and the larger salary being traded was less than the 125% rule, there is no problem with the salaries. I don't know why we're still talking about this... lol. It's not especially difficult math, it was just written in a very confusing way when it was posted.

I apologize for the way I posted it.
PF 67 David West $12,000,000 $12,600,000 SG 56 Jason Terry $5,450,000 GF 66 Arron Afflalo $7,362,500 $7,362,500 $24,812,500
C 64 Enes Kanter $6,008,106 $7,882,663 SG 71 Kobe Bryant $23,500,000 $25,000,000 $29,508,106
$24,812,500 x 1.25 = $31,015,625 $31,015,625 > $29,508,106 Boston's total salary traded in this trade is $24,812,500. $24,812,500 multiplied by 125% is equal to $31,015,625. Boston cannot receive more than $31,015,625. Boston's total salary returning from this trade is $29,508,106. $29,508,106 is less than $31,015,625.
$29,508,106 / 1.25 = $23,606,485 $23,606,485 < $24,812,500 Toronto's total salary traded in this trade is $29,508,106. $29,508,106 divided by 125% is equal to $23,606,485. Toronto cannot receive less than $23,606,485. Toronto's total salary received from this trade $24,812,500. $24,812,500 is more than $23,606,485.

No, that was the correct answer from last nights homework.
Question: Do the total traded salaries in the Boston-Toronto trade in D720 work within the 125% rule?

Rather be an actuary. Median income in 2012 was $93,680. A lot more than a math teacher.
