Welcome to the first ever episode of the 'Lake Show' Blog. Episodes will be sporadic, but not largely spaced out, as we aim to cover mostly Laker related topics, but occasionally, we'll do deep dives on League, and Conference affairs. Young GM Ron Artest took over a Lakers bunch last winter that had talent, but was both underwhelming, and quite expensive. We saw stars like Kyle Lowry, Andre Drummond and Klay Thompson turn into Devin Booker, and then Draymond Green. A bunch projected to win 31 games, was able to win 46 games, and reach the Western Conference Playoffs as a 7th seed. This summer Artest made a huge splash in free agency by signing, in most peoples eyes, the best two way player in the league in Kawhi Leonard. Not only Kawhi, but spark plug Lou Williams was brought in, as well as free agents Devin Harris, Nik Stouskas, and Shabazz Muhammed. Apart from this summer's free agency, trades have also seen 1/2 of the splash brothers return, as well as the DPOTY Rudy Gobert.
The ability to lure Free Agents to Los Angeles is one of the things that made this Franchise great in the first place, so with Artest being able to convince Kawhi to commit a large part of his prime to this Franchise, that's an absolute huge get for this franchise. This City gains a true Superstar, and I'd wager the team went from middle of the pack, to at the very least a strong option for Vegas to get to the finals. Ultimately, I think the City of Los Angeles will again be able to root for a team that's able to compete with the best of the League this year. I guess to sum up this blog, the Lakers are back, as in tradition!
