Accept
Love Rudy, and although Capela is worse on the interior, his ability to defend guards on the perimeter should offset Rudy’s defensive influence. He’s also on a very favorable contact. We save money on a per year basis which will enable us to either resign Klay, or successfully replace him next summer. Finally, the biggest reason I’m doing this is, The picks will serve as a way to acquire a point guard, and increase our quality of depth.. Truth be told I won’t be able to compete on a game by game basis without someone that can initiate an offense.

Damn this is an interesting trade. My instinct is that Pete is stealing Gobert, but it's also smart of Ron to be proactive in avoiding cap oblivion. I don't think Capela is nearly the player Rudy is, but if LAL is looking for a guy to play a similar role for less money I'm not sure there's a better target who is gettable...
The rationale on both sides is solid enough, but rn I'm a little unsure if the value is there. The core of this trade makes sense, but if I were LAL I'd be asking for more from Pete--either a protected future first or a decent player to make up the talent drop.
Undecided right now--gonna have to research both the guys a bit to make sure my instincts on them are right and also look at each team's assets. This is a tough one, but good on both GMs for keeping things interesting and having the essence of a smart trade.

Your splitting hairs on the reason lal could ask for a 1st Doesnt hurt the balance of the league, good reasoning from both gm's, solid trade well done APPROVE

Your splitting hairs on the reason lal could ask for a 1st Doesnt hurt the balance of the league, good reasoning from both gm's, solid trade well done APPROVE Hey man, doesn't hurt to be thorough My eye test from watching Rockets and Jazz games last year tells me Rudy is notably better, but considering that LAL is saving money, and that stats have both guys neck and neck, I think this can be a good trade for both teams. Heck, Capela might even fit with Kawhi and Klay a little better than Rudy on account of being more mobile. I'll accept.

Gonna be really interesting to see how this trade affects WAS. They're an anomaly at overperforming bc of how well the team is built fit/role-wise... Even though Rudy is the better player, I wonder if the change will mess with their mojo at all.

I think Capela is definitely in a lower tier individually speaking, but even Gobert doesn’t bring some Components Capela has to his game. Take this clip for example,

I like this for Pete but you can't blame Ron for wanting the extra cap space given that everyone else told him that "signing for the Lakers" is a thing. It is reported for the cap to go up next season so that puts this into context.
I accept.

I'll accept. Interesting trade as SCAL said. I would keep gobert myself but given youth and salary factors I can see why someone would lean the other way

Capela can be traded because he was matched, right?

Capela can be traded because he was matched, right? Correct. Players who sign with their previous team are not considered Free Agents.
