I accept this trade. I won't be able to resign Shumpert so I want to take this chance to get some depth for him. Kieff and Carroll are expirings, but they are both guys I might be able to resign for the right price, and I need this depth to go deep in the playoffs. Augustin is a great backup PG that I'll get to keep around another year, so I'm happy to bring him back. DUFFMAN

I accept this trade. I see it as a trade that is giving me shumpert in exchange for augustine and two expiring plauers im not interested in bringing back anyways. Carroll and Kief are basically shooting my effort to develop my young players with long contracts in the foot. Shumpert is another young player to add to my roster and even if I cant match an offer he gets this offseason I pick up 2mil more in expiring contracts I wouldn't have had before this trade.

Duffman: Very surprised to see you think that getting Shumpert is a net win at the same time as you admit you weren't planning on keeping Markieff because he's limiting your ability to develop young players... (Who do you have at Power Forward who could be better over the next 5-10 years than Markieff?)... But overall, I feel like the trade itself isn't awful - just that it's a clear win for Toronto. You probably would have needed to clear just a tiny bit of cap space to make sure you could offer Markieff his market value anyway, and moving two expiring UFA for a guy that you can be guaranteed to keep on his RFA contract isn't a terrible way to get things done. Long story short, not good for you, but not bad enough to reject.
Accept.

Who do you mean young players Duffman?? Morris and Carroll is already enough to trade for Prince and Shumpert even though they're expiring but adding D.J. Augustine?? I need some more reasoning on the part of the Portland..

I'm obviously not duffman but if I were in his position I might be looking to move up in the lottery and get a piece I can lock down longterm in Shump.

so Shumpert without BR and have a QO in the 2nd year is greater than expiring Kieff and Carroll.. not to mention expiring Prince for 2 years contract of Augustine..

Shumpert being an RFA means he can get his bird rights guaranteed. I don't know how FA goes in a league like this but I'd think DeMarre and Kieff would be liable to go to winning teams.
Also who the hell knows what will happen with Morris with the lawsuit.

I will accept, I'm not a fan for Portland, but he gets RFA for Shump who I'm kind of a fan of.

I accept. Its pretty much a wash. The team giving up Shumpert and his RFA rights is getting the better players in return and it is likely all players involved are on different teams next season anyways.
