I can’t pretend to have any control over how the league values Cousins, and holding a team hostage with a player who may never return to form after an Achilles rupture seems pretty unreasonable...
But with both of those things considered, I don’t think this is enough for Cousins - either as much as you could get right now, OR as much as he will be worth if he comes back healthy and shows he can still be a great player - and I think this Clippers team can’t afford to gamble on giving up on him for any less than the most they can possibly get for him right now.

Maybe instead of sending Jordan Bell in the trade to the celtics, they trade Randolph/Napier.
Celtics would be essentially swapping Len's 4 year deal for Randolph's 2 year Deal. Knight's 3 year deal for Napier's 2 Year deal.
Clipper's keep a young asset in Bell and get off 5.5m more salary than in the trade. Celtics win less in this trade than in the original but still swap around 35m of committed salary for 15m which is good.

People who don't like this trade for the clips are underrating Kurucs and the 22 unprotected BOS pick.
Personally, I think it's a reasonable deal for both teams--depending on how good Boogie comes back, either team can win this trade. Imo, that's what a trade for a seriously injured star should look like.
Can't blame Clips for wanting to move expiring Cousins--even if he re-signed there, if he never comes back to form but got paid well, he could become a negative. Sure, they can't afford to trade him for less than he's worth, but at the same time I think avoiding a scenario where you re-sign him hoping to retain value and he goes belly up is a very reasonable choice.
22 is an option year for Russ... If Boston doesn't turn it around by then, he could be gone. Obviously that's a ways out, but what would really kill this Boston team?? Overpaying Cousins if he's never the same. And, if that does become the case, they've just cashed out most of their young assets with high potential in this deal--so if Cousins becomes a bum BOS 22 pick is a very big deal.
Personally, I think he's gonna be a starter level player, but not an all-star. However, there's no knowing. If he can get back to where he was, BOS wins. And, the further down you go in terms of his quality after he returns, the better this looks for LAC. Getting a trove of decent assets in Len, Hood, Saric is nice too--right now LAC just doesn't have much trade fodder. This trade helps them with that, they get the BOS pick, abd Kurucs who I wish to fucking hell I had drafted
