Since we're already midway through the season, I thought we should at least take a peek at all the big names (and big contracts!) hitting free agency this 2019.
Kevin Durant, DEN - PO $39,011,000
That's a large sum of money to leave on the table. It's unlikely he'll decline that PO even if the Nuggets don't win the championship, he's still young and can afford to play another year in Denver before hitting FA again to fish for his final contract.
Chris Paul, POR - PO $38,328,211
With his health declining, he'll likely pick up his PO. He's won't receive that big of a contract again went he hit the 2020 FA.
James Harden, PHI - PO $32,852,753
He was promised to be offered a max contract after this season, but that was before Scott took over. He'll likely receive tons of Max contract offer if he declines that PO but make no mistake, Philly is on a tear right now and that might convince Harden to stay.
Paul Millsap, WAS - TO $29,400,000
It would be insane if Pete accept Millsap's TO in the off-season. He's been injury-prone and does not produce much anymore. Declining his TO will help Washington free up some cap and give them cap flexibility.
Jonas Valanciunas, ORL - TO $24,500,000
With the way he's playing in the sim and irl, accepting that TO would be reasonable. However, declining that TO will lower Orlando's committed salary for 2019-2020 but won't be enough to bring them below cap.
Draymond Green, POR - TO $24,500,000
With the way Portland is playing right now (2nd in the West), Dray proves to be a vital cog in Portland's run for the championship this year. If Theo accepts that TO, they'll have another chance to make a run next year if things don't go the way they want it this year.
Jimmy Butler, ORL - PO $24,500,000
He hasn't been great in the sim but the team is competing for the top spot in the East, will that be enough to make him stay or will he decline that PO and start looking for a max contract.
Greg Monroe, LAC - PO $24,500,000
The Clippers may be on a rebuilding phase but they are way over the salary cap. unlikely this PO will be declined by Monroe, he ain't getting that lot when he hit FA again.
Other notable players that will hit FA this offseason:
D'Angelo Russell, BKN - RFA $5,261,526
Klay Thompson, CLE - UFA
Nikola Vucevic, CLE - UFA
