A free agent signed in season cannot be cut for 3 months (with the exception of a free agent signed due to injury to meet the 10 player minimum); this is to prevent people from repeatedly signing and cutting players to trade the dead money. This is the rule Brian Scalabrine

I wonder though--my situation doesn't really seem like the reason why the rule is in place, seeing as I didn't give him the contract. In any case, I guess rules are rules. Thanks.
