Minnesota sends:
Tobias Harris $24,500,000
Toronto sends:
Wesley Matthews $6,480,000 $5,960,000 Zach Collins $4,046,500 $5,147,148 $6,938,356 Omari Spellman $1,268,000 $1,342,900 $1,634,000 Thomas Bryant $1,018,690 DR of Tacko Fall
Dead contracts of:
Aaron Brooks $4,969,188

Accept from me. We'll be committed to bringing back Harris long term. He's only turning 27 this season, which is a nice fit for our goals of becoming a playoff squad that will continue to get better over the next few years. He, Beal, and Lauri will create a formidable offense that will make noise in the east. And while this deal leaves us thin for depth, we still feel pretty good about a core of SGA/Beal/Tobi/Lauri/Bamba with the likes of Thybulle and Brandon Clarke off the bench, plus our vet in Temple. We also still like our more marginal prospects of Svi and Khyri, and feel that with a couple smart MLE signings, we'll have a strong ten man rotation come the beginning of the season, AND have some strong long-term upside.
While it's fun to tank, and the obvious goal is to end up with a chip, even if this trade doesn't make us immediate contenders, it puts us in legitimate playoff position, and ushers in a new era of Toronto basketball that fans, execs, and FAs will be able to respect.

I accept
I know I just got Harris, but after learning more about the repeater tax and knowing I'm going to most likely be a double repeater their would have been no way I could resign him after next year.
So I had the choices of ride it out and lose him for nothing but I hate that idea, ride it out and hope he balls out of his mind and lives up to that new real life max contract and I can trade him in season, or get what I can now and that way not have worry about injury, or being a let down to his new contract.
Talent wise I agree Toronto's getting the better player but I'm super intrigued by Zach Collins! He really came on at the end of last year with the injuries and is looking to start or at least be the sixth man with alfarooq aminu going to Orlando, and Meyers Leonard leaving, and the injury to jusuf keeps him out if he ever reaches that level again. All this gives Zach Collins a huge chance to shine as a modern NBA big who can play the 4/5 position. I see him being a Kevin love type as he develops (fingers crossed) I also am taking a flyer on omari spellman hopefully filling that Jordan bell role for gsw irl, and Bryant keeps developing with the wizards and hopefully starts, with Mathews in for a nice depth piece. also I have been enamored with takko fall ever since the tourney against Zion! He may never be anything in the league or maybe he could be a sneaky 15 min stat stuffer either way I want him on my team when he figures it out!
Also with this trade having the 2 dead contracts and a team option on Mathews I can save about 16 mil next year, with the goal being out of the repeater tax in 2 years with a good mix of vets and young guys to keep Minny running smoothly!

Makes sense for both Toronto and Minnesota, KG was backed into a corner and had to cut some of the contracts he had, cause he's not gonna have the ability to pay max money to any more players due to the repeater tax. If he signs Cousins to a reasonable contract and finds some good trade partners, he might actually have enough capital to get under the tax floor this season while receiving that $10,186,900 penalty before it turns to $20,373,800 in the 2020-2021 season.
Toronto looks to become a contender for the 6th/7th/8th seeds in the East, quite an improvement after losing the most games ever this 2018-19 season. Also helps to try and compete while Beal has his player option in the 2019-20 off-season.

Minny absolutely demolishes here. Great job KG. Zach Collins is a stud.

Pick 5, Dillon Brooks, Spellman For Harris, Clarke, Thybulle, '23 pick swap with Minny . Hard to feel like I haven't cleaned up on this trade sequence. I think it's a win-win at worst.
