Also, it's pretty silly that a player like Myles Turner, who already signed a team-friendly extension IRL, has barely shown even a single glimmer of first option offensive upside, and has missed enough games in his 4 years to know that there's no guarantee he'll still be able to pull in a huge contract 4 years down the line, would leave a total of $15M and an extra year of contract security on the table just to sign this non-max deal that'll most likely leave him making less in years 4 and beyond than he'd get on my offer. Would've hoped the PA's would approach the situation with a semblance of realism rather than just voting blindly on the higher AAV... but what do you do.
Looking forward to Myles continued success with the Thunder. As he was told from the beginning, he is a major part of our core group and was 100% going to be matched. We have championship aspirations and we're glad to have Turner on board.

Damn really thought I'd get this one. Glad to eat up a bunch of rising team's cap space nonetheless

Not sure why you thought I’d let him go though. If he wanted him bad enough he should’ve tried to trade for him. haha

At least it'd be possible you thought he was actually worth a max rather than just obviously hoping that you threw enough at him to try to convince me not to match. lol.

Did you just see what Boogie got here in 720? To think someone isn't gonna offer Myles Turner more in year 5 than he was offered on your deal is easily less than 50%, espcially considering a rising cap 5 years from now. Myles Turner has the same upside as someone like JJJ, fo sho.

Myles Turner has the same upside as someone like JJJ, fo sho. Walt Frazier ;) LOL I've been staunchly defending Myles' talent for years now, and agree his upside is still immense while also already being a legitimately great player, but all I really was trying to say is that he's been injured enough - and isn't LeBron / KD / Curry - to know that if he tears an ACL at the end of year 4 his offers are going to plummet and he can't guarantee he'll make up that $15M in year 5 or beyond. Guys that aren't top 10 usually only "bet on themselves" if the offer they got was a major lowball... if you really want to try to convince me that less than 2.2M AAV difference between my deal and his counts as a "lowball" then fine, go ahead, but I stand by that my offer should have realistically been accepted here. Not mad about it, just pointing out how I perceive the situation.
