Denver trades:
Mike Conley $34,545,000 $36,660,000 Buddy Hield $3,703,955 $4,967,004 CHI 2020 2nd
Total outgoing salary $38,248,955
Portland trades: DeMar DeRozan $34,155,000 $36,382,500 Dewayne Dedmon $4,500,000 $3,408,600 $2,317,200 Total outgoing salary $38,655,000
Accept. I don't think the current roster is good enough for winning it all so it makes sense to rebuild a bit. I get bit younger scorer in Buddy, who might be bit expensive to resign. Conley's contract ain't pretty, but he fits quite well next to CP3 or has still enough to be the replacement starting guy if I move on from CP3.
But this would not be the only trade I'm planning on making. Plan is to get much younger from the current roster.
Derozan has a a no-trade clause but I think he would accept this, as he doesn't really fit with the rest of my starting 5 anymore and I have to put him to 6th man role, and I'm starting to rebuild. We had a good run. Denver is also a playoff bound team where Demarr can be the go-to scorer until Tatum and other young guys can take over.

Accept, we have proven to be one of the better teams in the league so far this season and this is our chance to solidify that by pairing an All-NBA talent and All-Star in DeRozan as our go to guy with Tatum and the rest of our team. Dedmon adds to our frontcourt depth with Bryant currently out and with Conley gone we have faith that Rondo, Garland or even Jackson can be suitable replacements. Portland gets valuable assets for their rebuild in Hield, the future 2nd and Conley who they can flip for something eventually.

Denver is losing this trade badly imo but I have rejection fatigue so I'm gonna hold off voting and let others deal with it

The more time I’ve spent thinking on this since it got posted, the more it feels like it’s not particularly close here. DeRozan is awesome but Conley is still a solid player even if he’s overpaid, and Buddy is probably the most valuable piece in this trade by a mile.
Maybe if Portland was the one giving up a pick here I might be able to stomach an accept... it wouldn’t be even but I’d at least feel like both sides understood what was going on and just felt like this was a necessary move for their roster.
With the pick on Denver’s side it’s obvious Denver isn’t valuing Buddy very well and Portland is just taking advantage of a trade that they couldn’t say no to.
Reject.

Buddy Hield can be quite divisive player. Some really like him, I think he is ok, but nothing too special. So that's why I think this is quite even as Derozan has been playing best ball of his life and he has a game that should age really well. It's not like he is gonna drop off any time soon
Buddy is definitely a good 20ppg scorer but I don't now if there is still another level as he is already 27. And probably I have to sign him in a deal that is more than his value
Both teams are happy what they get, so it's win-win imo and not rejectable.

Why is Denver sending an additional 2nd? lol Because most people don't value seconds much is always worth to ask for one in the end of trade talks. :) But how Bulls are playing it's crappy pick in mid 55s, so I wouldn't care if I get that or not. It can be removed if that is a deal breaker for TC

Lot to dissect and I always lean towards accept on trades. I don’t understand the addition of the 2nd, although that’s not a huge deal. Will DeMar want the option or will he look for a full max? How much will Buddy get next season? Will Conley return to form? Overall, weird trade that’s not immediately franchise ruining. If Doc thinks this will help him win it all this year, then I’m going to have to accept strictly on a win-now basis but I don’t love the deal.

I'll reject then.
Tbh, KG, in regards to why we don't always vote on deals--at least personally, I pretty often choose not to vote instead of rejecting. Feels like a way to not help a trade get through, but also not kill it dead on arrival in the event that not all the tc votes on it.

I have been swinging between accept and reject but i am gonna go with accept because while this is a bad deal for Denver it has a lot of variables like Ed has stated. Will Demar reject his PO and go elsewhere? Will Conley return back to form? Will Buddy Hield sign a contract which makes him really overpaid? So i am gonna give the benefit of the doubt to the GMs and accept this trade

Not really a fan of this trade but I’ll accept it. Deebo is having the best season of all players involved in this trade, so I can see why Denver is overpaying to get him. Honestly if Dedmon was making anything somewhat close to his irl contract, this would’ve been a reject for me.

I do think some members of the TC who are largely quiet/inactive in the league as a whole without posting in the away thread that they are otherwise occupied or busy may need to move along but have no issues when TC members simply decline to give a verdict for whatever reason they give.

Feels like a way to not help a trade get through, but also not kill it dead on arrival in the event that not all the tc votes on it. I try to avoid not passing a verdict at all, but I definitely think the amount of backlash to the TC taking a stance on trades (no matter how bad they are) plays a big part in any voting apathy that exists here. I wouldn’t be opposed to letting go of my spot for at least a little bit... I’ve been on the TC for damn near this league’s entire run and probably do need a break.
