Accept
I save 20m over the next two years, and this move gives me a chance to add some nice pieces around Giannis

im actually going to reject this i feel like unprotected picks have a lot of value and that unloading 8m in salary is not that value. if it was top 3 protected i'd accept.
i personally wouldn't do it unless it was top 8 protected

The basic idea of this trade is that after this trade Cavs have 45 mil in cap space with Giannis,Bledsoe,Marcus Morris,Nunn,Jarrett Allen already on their roster. The 45 mil allows them to go hard in FA and sign a star FA while also picking up some depth to make a championship contending roster. This is crucial because next season Giannis has a PO similar to him being a FA in real life next season. If in real life Giannis choose to go to a big market then only a deep playoff run could convince him to stay with the Cavs in here.If he goes to the best possible destination to win then Cavs need to do all in their power to become that team for him here. Nino Brown feel free to correct me on any of this since you would know your plans better but this is how I understand the trade

If there is a small risk of Giannis leaving (maybe slightly influenced due to irl precedent) wouldn't it be even bigger reason to have some protection to the pick ;)

With the way Shaq O'Neal is locking up 2024 1sts this week wouldn't be surprised if he already locked a really god 2024 1st, lol. This is sort of the reason why I don't like mixing 19-20 salaries with 2024 1sts. There are some guys that simply don't like picks and Shaq knows that and is trying to hurry before everybody else, lololol. And everybody else feels weird going for those picks right now because they are 5 years ahead.

I like picks, but the pick could just as easily be 30th in 4 years, that’s just how quickly things change. A year or two ago, Portland, Knicks, Sonics, etc... were all top teams, but I get the sentiments though, so no sour grapes if this is rejected

The way I understand it even years are where you can stock up on draft picks because of the Stepien rule. Most teams own their picks in the odd years with ORL and OKC being exceptions(going off memory). In odd years such moves are less likely to happen because there would not be a tradeable first to even do this. With my new found cap space of around 30 mil and teams having FA plans, cap space is an asset.Especially when you have had the worst record which gives me a big disadvantage in FA so turning that into usable assets is something I have to do before the FA period.Would like to conclude by saying the early GM gets the draft pick lol

There are some guys that simply don't like picks and Shaq knows that
Also that is not the case since I am pretty sure I have contacted around 1/3rd of the league over such deals so I am trying to get deals done with pretty much GM and not just specific ones.

Jokes aside, Anderson's contract seems pretty small to even need a any 1st to be moved. I mean, I get it says 3 years contract in there but on reality it is just $10,006,401 $10,756,881 (PO). Yet another victim of mixing 19-20 salaries with 2024 picks.
Edit: Sorry if it seems like I am complaining too much, lol.

It's not a trade I would do, but does that mean it's rejectable?
Is it franchise ruining? Probably not, but if Giannis doesn't stay, it could be lottery which would be sad but not like franchise ruining.
I'll just reject it, even Shaq seems to think he's winning this by too much: "I understand if this has to be rejected.Obviously I wish it still passes but I can't blame the TC for doing their job"

If the pick is... say, even just top 8 protected, there’s a non-zero chance at a lottery pick for LAC, an extremely minimal chance that LAC gets nothing, and most importantly, if CLE doesn’t land a free agent that improves them enough to keep Giannis and he leaves in free agency, they won’t have lost that pick for virtually no reason.
I don’t see any reason a protected 1st doesn’t get this deal done for LAC, and I do think the trade without protection on the pick has the potentially for genuinely franchise ruining consequences.
