I accept.
First off, Porter is just an ass clown. I don't mean basketball wise, but as a human being I just strongly, STRONGLY dislike him. Maybe that shouldn't be important, but I play D720 largely because it's a fun way to watch the league. I watch the games of guys I own (and the blazers, of course) and root for them as individuals. Particularly with the guys who are young and I'm trying to project moving forward. I root for them, following their journey as young adults, all that stuff. It's pretty fun for me! However, in the seasons now, most of which my player has been filled with you guys, I have never so viscerally disliked a player as a person as I have MPJ. Anti-vaxxer, probably a Qanon guy. It's just not fun rooting for him, so I think after he popped in the bubble, it's a good time to sell him for fair value, which I believe this is.
Huerter isn't a world beater, doesn't have the mega upside of Porter (who, by the way, COULD become a very legitimate star) but he's still young and has already established himself as a quality rotation piece on any team. It's clear he'll have a role as a shooter at least, and he also does some other things (the handle and secondary playmaking is nice). I think his median outcome over the next few years is a guy who depending on your team build, can be the fourth or fifth best starter on a good playoff team. And if he's an excellent 6th or 7th man instead, I'm okay with that--I'm still getting the ninth pick. He fills a need in my core as a quality wing as well. Very possible that Porter will end up better (I'd say likely, unless his body just explodes) but Huerter is nothing to shake a stick at. He's already established a solid floor, and still has more upside imo. Wouldn't be surprised if he has an MIP campaign in a couple years or so. He can definitely score, is a good enough defender, and makes plays for others pretty nicely. He's an athlete on a good size frame for an SG as well, so there's a lot to like in him, even if he's been irrelevant because the Hawks suck.
So, I get a guy who is core-worthy imo, and I get 9. That puts me sitting at 9, 14, 20, with a core of SGA/Kev/Clarke/Lauri. I plan to hold those four guys over this year, but the rest is in the air. I'll make more moves on the fringes, and hopefully between my three picks this year and my pick next season, I end up with at least 2 more upside guys who can play immediately. Then I'll still have about 88 mil to spend next offseason, with a ready made roster of the surrounding pieces, that all have upside to blossom into bigger players in the future. I feel good.

I accept.
For me, this is about the upside. I like Huerter, but I think the "next-Klay" hype was just that - hype. He's something in that mold, offensively, but I basically see him as a decent player, could be a starter on a good team eventually, but I don't see the massive upside that I do in MPJ.
Pick 9, while of course a wildcard at this point, I think is a definite dart-throw on what is likely a "hopefully this is a rotation piece" type of player. Could be a bust. Could be the next Giannis, sure, it's the draft, that's how this goes.
But basically, I'm: 1) Swinging for the upside of MPJ 2) Consolidating some assets in the process.

Also, if porter hits his upside, hard to imagine a much better frontcourt partner than JJJ.
