Dear Toronto Raptors fans,
Hey, it's me, Brian Scalabrine. This is my first press release ever, so a lot of shit has gone down. So we had a wild ride, we were at the top of the east for most of the season, were ousted for a bit and in the end we tied for the best record in our conference. We had an All-Nba player in Klay Thompson, Tyson Chandler was select for 3rd defensive team, and Chris Paul was robbed of an All-Nba selection despite leading the league in assists. In any case, our regular season campaign was very successful, in my humble opinion. A lot of players were traded; Bosh, Gallinari, Gortat, DJ Augustin (but then we got him back), Kobe Bryant, Enes Kanter, Iman Shumpert, and most recently Chris Paul. Then, of course, we were upset in round one in six games by the 7th seed Atlanta Hawks. We did everything we could to put together a team that would have the best chance to contend in this season. I believe we did make that team. Entering the playoffs with Paul, Thompson, Carroll, West, Chandler, Morris, Afflalo, Mbah a Moute and Augustin playing for us made us a strong team. In the end, it didn't happen, but I would bet on that team again.
I'll go ahead and say that out of all those trades, the only one I regret is the Kobe and Kanter for West and Afflalo. It was theoretically a decent idea, getting a bigman who plays on both both ends of the court and getting a 3 and D guy instead of a ball dominant player like Kobe. Every other move I made I will stand by.
Raptors fans are a bit nervous after the CP3 trade, but they need to calm the fuck down. We are now in a great position, we have some young guys with a ton of upside. Stanley Johnson is a god damned stud and is going to develop fast. Aaron Gordon, the sky is the limit for the young, wannabe Draymond Green. Tyler Zeller is an under-rated center, he was a legit starter for the Celtics, he won't play that role on our team but he will be a regular rotation player. We have a star in Klay Thompson, and a ton of money to spend this offseason. After this offseason, I assure you that our team will have everything it needs to contend for years to come. Our team last year was strong indeed, but was never built to last. This off-season will be a wild one, stay tuned. The Raptors will be back on top before you know it.
