So, I'm making a movie. Here's our trailer.
I know these things aren't clearly connected, but here's a wall of text:
So here I am in the morning, waking up, getting ready to release a trailer for a HUGE project for me, that's been the focus of my last few months and will be the focus of my next year, most likely--and see Billy's post about retirement. Bittersweet. It really landed on me, reading billy talk about how much has changed since he put this league together. I think this is something all of us that have been in the league for a while have experienced.
I was fresh out of high school when I joined the league, and in a flash, I'm 25. Going from flipping burgers at Wendy's, to community college, University, helping raise a kid and trying to launch a career. If nothing else: I just appreciate having the small joy of checking this league all the while--everyone here and that is already gone were a part of that. I hope it continues.
In any case, this project is a big deal to me. It feels almost apropos that as I'm making a brave choice in my real life by trying to make a feature film, the old comfort of this league is entering a new chapter, and maybe one of uncertainty. I wish for ALL of you who are reflecting on how long this league has been going and how much lives have changed since becoming involved... Success! Happiness! Forward progress! Growth!
I feel a little sentimental. I appreciate y'all a lot, and everything that this league has been. I'm about to crowdfund and make a whole ass movie, and yes, I'm posting in every corner of the internet and hoping to find support. But, my intention on sharing this and posting here isn't to get your money or a whopping 30 more views-- I just hope that it gives you a smile. And, that if you choose to follow along our journey as we actually make this monster, that it brings you some satisfaction that being in a random forum alongside a stranger on the internet led to you enjoying a stupid hotdog sports movie that most likely, about no one will watch.
Hope this makes sense, and hope you all are well now, and in the future!
