I accept. I have a target in mind at 18 & Jrue slides in nicely next to FVV. Joe might be the most tenured player on my roster as I got him as a regular season FA in my first or second year. He checks all the boxes for intangibles that usually fill my roster so he will definitely be missed.

2024 BOS 1st = Pick 24 and 27, fine.
But that leaves Jrue Holiday and a 1st round swap option being traded for 3 second rounders in #41, #44, #45.
???
I like to keep an open mind as an onlooker on d720 trades, but this one is a headscratcher. But if he explains it well, this trade should be acceptable.

Accept, I like it for the Celtics personally. Wizards also had Jrue Holiday to an already good defensive team headed by Covington, and Gobert. Not sure what the Clippers intend to do with all these picks down the line.

Not sure what the Clippers intend to do with all these picks down the line. The thing with future picks is one or two injuries and it can be a top 5 pick. Look at real life GSW. Red shouldn't be giving up unprotected picks for terrible picks in the 20s that will in all likelihood become nothing

Real life Pelicans got 3 future 1st round picks, 2 swap options, 1 starter and 1 sub player for Holiday. While obviously that seems like an overpay, in here you see the opposite with all the future considerations attached to Jrue and they are are unprotected as well. The risk involved seems really high compared to the reward. And Celtics do get multiple picks but they are all low tier ones in a draft with questions. Moving Anderson is also a positive I think but his contract is hardly big being a 2 years one starting next Season for approx $10M each.
Edit: Sorry. Don't want to be mean specially considering this is a draft deal. But yeah, this could be franchise ruining considering there is a chance Celtics could have just Fox, Edwards, Hachimura and Brooks in 2022 with all 1sts from 2022 to 2024 gone to Clippers and unprotected. That could end really badly and there isn't much of a reward here. And sure, there is a cap situation for Celtics but Draft hasn't even ended. Cap situations usually become more expensive to solve late in the Season. But then, some of the expiring veterans that Celtics own would also be more valuable to contenders.

This trade is horrible for BOS. I know I look silly saying it bc I just sent an unprotected 1st for 17, but this is wayyyyy worse. BOS wasn't even able to put together a top-20 performance with a roster of vets, now they have Edwards and Fox which is nice, but even the '23 pick swap to LAC would terrify me if I'm them, and who knows what their team looks like if (god forbid) Fox has a horrible injury within the next two years. I fall in love with draft picks as much as anyone, and this draft in particular I was especially aggressive in getting my guys. But... 24, 27, 41, 44, for Holiday and two years of your draft capital??? Absolutely bananas.

This is a decent trade for the clippers, and getting Jrue is very nice for the Wizards. With that in mind, trading Jrue doesn't seem like the best move to me. Two first round picks would negate any cap space made with this deal wouldn't it?

Yeah I was looking at the wrong roster sheet...this does clear up a decent amount of cap space this year for Boston, even with the picks.
I'll accept this.

I agree with you guys that this isn't a super great trade but is this one we really shouldn't pass? Will this permanently make Boston bad or w/e.

If that pick becomes top 3 that would be detrimental to his franchise. He’s also getting worse as a team in the deal. He gets rid of a pretty good player and really doesn’t get anything.

I mean he's over the hard cap...he's gotta do something Something doesn't mean two unprotected firsts and an all star lol 2 unprotected firsts is misleading though. It is still a swap option and it is not like it is guaranteed that I will have a better team in 2023.There is a good chance I will still be bad in 2023 while Red does have 2 high upside players in Fox and Edwards and while I do have solid young players none of them are franchise players as such
